I remember seeing this image after voting was over and thinking, "That's not so bad... I wonder why it's so far down here..." It placed a little low, but the score wasn't too bad.

Compositionally, I really like it. It has a very strong presence with the bold red and the centered crisp white window. I also really like the red reflecting in the window. Overall, it's bold, yet welcoming at the same time though. I suppose the composition makes it sort of look like a door, even though it's not. The combination of the wreath and snow absolutely secure the image's theme of "Holidays."

So, what went wrong? I'm not totally sure. The only thing I can put my finger on is that the building isn't in great focus. That might also be an illusion though because of the snow. The wreath has some sharp bits, but they don't feel exactly natural. It feels like maybe you sharpened the wreath on its own?

As for the font choice, it's not bad. For me it seems a little too common, but I'm picky in this regard. I'm not very good at it either though, mind you. I design book covers for a local publisher, and I'm always struggling with finding the right font. It's hard! For your card, I might have gone with something more whimsical. There's a lot of basic geometry in your image (straight lines and circles). If you choose a fairly simple font, it blends in. Something crazy/swirly might jump out more. I might have put a really fuzzy shadow on the lettering too. Like, so fuzzy that the shadow doesn't look like letters anymore and it's more of a slightly darker cloud behind the lettering. That helps separate the lettering from image too.
