Thanks for the great comments :)

In Greek mythology, the Keres were female death-spirits. The Keres were daughters of Nyx, and as such the sisters of the Fates (Moirai), Doom (Moros), Death and Sleep (Thanatos and Hypnos), Strife (Eris), Old Age (Geras), Divine Retribution (Nemesis), Charon, and other personifications. Some, such as Cicero who calls them by a Latin name, Tenebrae, or the Darknesses, name them daughters of Erebus and Nyx.

Tenebrae is a Latin word for darkness.... or shadows. The word predates any Christian practices. I I find it fascinating how many contemporary reference books, be they dictionaries or school text books temper their selections based on religious or political "correctness" in this country.

Thanks for the enlightening explanation.
My dictionary references only the Roman Catholic church's meaning, to wit...."The office of matins and lauds sung on the last three days of Holy Week, with a ceremony of candles."

Oh my God......THAT'S what keeps scratching across the barn siding....sounds like long bloody nails

Befriend them...make them yours or else they will consume you before your time is over.
(If I was a cat woman I would have them named these names and most likely they would be black cats......maybe one obnoxious Himalayan with a wiry filthy tail)

Record scratch

Take 2.

I love this one. The white against the dark. The branches are beautiful.

Even after looking up the title word in the dictionary, I don't understand, but maybe that's on me. The tree patterns, though, are artfully presented.

Love this abstract shot, really like the white tones but not sure if I like the brown so much...possibly black and white?
