The layered effect you have here, and the choice to not have it in color, but just to have a blue tint to this made for a really neat looking photo! I love how you go from flat, plain white in the left hand corner, to some texture in the stream, to the trees, but they don't cover everything because they have no leaves, to the pine trees because they block out almost everything behind them. Your use of contrast here is very eye catching. The one thing that bothers me is how the top pine trees just slightly get cut off... thats not a very big problem though. Your composition here is beautiful, you can definately follow the lines, and your eyes wander over the whole photo, but know when to stop without running off the page. The lighting is almost perfect, except for in the upper left hand corner, it kind of turns into a dark blob and loses it's details, the rest is beautiful. Your exposure is excellent, especially in not having the bottom left hand corner too bright, it can be hard with snow. You did a wonderful job of meeting the challenge and you have a gorgeous photo here. Nice job of using your photographers eye to catch this lovely, peaceful site! |

I really loved this, so delicate. Could you put some details on how you did this, would love to know how you got this effect. Its unbelievable that you could have got any 1s,2s, or 3s for this (something to do with the title?) By the way, I gave you 10. |

very well composed..nice play of lines and textures..beautiful transition of colors...white snow, blue stream, frost covered bushes and trees leading into the evergreens and misty background all equal a beautiful photo. Well done. One of my 10's for the week. |

Very pretty picture, but it seems to be a bit over-exposed, which contributing to the softness overall. Would prefer crisper detail. I like the diagonal lines created by the water and the tree tops. |

I would have liked to see more of the darker trees with snow on them to get a good contrast. I like how the trees with no leaves and snow looks like they are painted onto the picture. |

Another picture to add to my favorites, I especially love the dark background that contrasts so dramatically with the delicate foreground. Beautiful! |

I would hang this on my wall. Although I may cut out the bank in the foreground, just that little triangle, it leaves less river but to me more appealling. |

The sharp snow line on the far river bank distracts the attention from the whole shot. |

OMG. That is absolutely beautiful. Probably the first shot (and there have been many good ones) that has made me sit back gawping at the sheer beauty. The layered effect is great. The only complaint I could possibly have is that the lower left corner is a bit plain. Brilliant. Well done. |

Fantastic!! Where did you go for this one? This really has a beautiful, romantic feel to it and great composition. I went to Fukushima a few weeks ago, bad timing cause I would have loved to have used some of the landscpes for this challenge! This should do really well! A true winter wonderland! Great work! |

This is a spectacular image. A magical delicate atmosphere emmanates from this photo. I am very impressed by the frost textures on the layers of branches contrasting so elegantly with the background evergreens. The cool haze in the distance really accentuates the mood. And the water is a lovely gentle hue that is so complimentary to the other colors in the image. A deep brooding blue brook certainly would not be appropriate. I like the accent of ice rock in the lower right corner. A nice touch of interest that anchors the eye roving down the stream. I guess you could fairly call this the " Made my first million on this calendar shot". If not that than at least endless raving reviews from other drolling envious DPC participants. A magnificent work. |

An eerie, almost surreal image. That rock in the river in the lower right distracts a bit, but just a tiny bit. The words "Ghostly Beauty" seem appropriate for this. Very well done! |

Nice diagonal. Would be cool if you could use that more in the shot. Those trees in the middle are just awesome. They look like a painting. Great lines and layers. |
