The day was snowy, and the sun was trying to shine with no success. I decided to explore a side road off Highway 11, and look what I found!

Linda, Greetings from the Critique Club };-)

Initial thoughts
Nice composition, meets the challenge, nice feel to it.

Composition/ Content

I think this should have scored even better than it did. I like the composition, although it would have been better without the "sign" or whatever to the left. I think if you had cropped it out, you would have ruined your perspective. Perhaps you could have moved it before the shot. In actuality, because the flow of the shot moves from the top right through the trees it points right to this sign.

Background
Because this is a near monochromatic shot, I would like it even more if the trees in the distance were lightened enough not to show at all. They are very light now and it works but I like the lonely feel of the trees in the cold.

Camera Work - Technical
Focus seems good and you did a pretty good job in the tough contrasty area of a snow shot.

Digital Processing - Technical
I think I would have cropped up just a bit to just above where the tracks are in the snow. I may have moved the top a little bit higher above the tallest tree as well. I know some folks commented that they would like to see it brighter but I like this feel. It may look good as well in B & W but once again I think this color matches the shot nicely.

Fits The Challenge
Definitely fits the challenge well.

My Opinion On The Photo
I originally scored this shot a six and almost a seven. I think that it meets the challenge well but was up against some unbelievable competition this challenge. Sometimes a shot with less color may be just as good if not better than others but doesn't score quite as well here. Don't let that bother you! Really good job, and keep up the good work.

I would be happy to talk further about this shot if you would like to contact me.

Nice capture. Missing a little something. Did you try converting to Black and White (or is this B&W)?

This shot would have been improved, in MHO, with a wider angle of view and more color in it.

There was something about this photo that I just love. I guess it has to be the tree formation and how you included part of the barren frozen lake. The framing is great...is that a shanty out there?. The weeds/grass in the foreground add a lot too. Thanks for an enjoyable picture.8.

I think you should havve cropped a little buit on the right to get rid of that 'start of a new bush' I find it distracting. Otherwise very nice job and tones. 7. Lionel

Great work. This looks cold and lonely. I love this. Might of moved so the ?box sign? on the left was not seen. Still very good work.

Nice, the reeds in the foreground really make the picture nice.
