Ah, now this is cold. I woke up to a morning of sunshine, and -19F temperature. There was small gusts of wind, but mostly it was relatively calm. Plus, the night before introduced a new layer of very light and fluffy snow, great for the bubbles to land on.
So I brought out my homemade bubble solution, my camera, and just enough clothes to not get frostbitten. I started blowing bubbles, watching most of them explode on impact, or blow away to an area where photos wouldn't work.
I was getting a few here and there in good positions that the sun light was highlighting the ice shards. Then this group landed together. This is the first and only group of bubbles I got to fly together and land. It landed in the perfect place, on top of a little snow mound, that allowed me to get low and slightly look up at the bubbles.
I watched and shot as the ice moved across the bubbles to create what you see here. An amazing sight for sure!
At the end of this, my hands were nearly frostbitten (I brought them in to hot water to warm them up, and it hurt!). My bubble solution was half frozen. And I had some cool photos :) |

The Giant goes small. Blowing the bubbles and working the macro. It's beautiful big man. |
