 I'm really late in posting this, but I'm having difficulty even now. My heart is broken. This is one of the last images I captured of my beautiful Chaco before she lost her battle with bone cancer.

Her mission in life was to love and be loved and in that she excelled. People who didn't even like dogs liked her. She was absolutely the sweetest, most loving friend I've ever had and I miss her more than I can say.

These were taken a couple of years ago. She loved going for w-a-l-ks and would range in front of us checking for possible dangers. If she thought I was going in a direction I shouldn't, she would stand in front of me, tail wagging and head hugging me and gently maneuver me onto the "right" path. (At 100 lbs. and at 34" tall at the withers, she was pretty effective)

I'm so sorry for your loss, Patsy. She looks and sounds like such a wonderful companion. What a shame that our beloved pets must leave us.

Oh Patsy it is so hard to lose such a wonderful friend. I lost my "puppy" on Nov 11th. She was going to be 14 on Dec 28th. Saffron loved going for w-a-l-k-s too! Thank you for sharing Chaco with us.

What a lovely image - you can see she's still very joyful even at the end of her life. She loved you well, that's clear to see. Cherish the memories. She'll visit you in dreams when you need her to.

What a beautiful girl! It is so hard losing a great friend and especially one who is sweet and loving and that you are truly bonded with. Those are relationships that stay with you forever. I was depressed for a year and 1/2 after I lost my horse and two months before losing my horse, I lost my 13 1/2 year old lab. Sometimes life just sucks. But time is an amazing healer and so are other animals who are waiting to be loved. Best wishes.

I miss my Golden Retriever very much, too. Maggie died in the summer of 2012, after the wildfires, at age 13.

Love your photo because it reminds me so much of my wonderful dog.
