I have been working like a dog again. When will I learn to stop doing that?!? My sweetie texted me a week before Valentines Day with a suggestion of going to Moab UT for a 4 day weekend. I couldn't respond fast enough with a resounding YES! Thanks Babe!
We hired a local photographer, Jon Fullerto guide us to an area that is little known by the regular tourists. He took us to a very nice spot on Sat morning, but it was too cloudy and the light just sucked. I took some shots, because that was the purpose of the guided trip, but was not happy with any of them. Frustrated a little with the lack of good light, we picked up and headed to a different area where he showed us some rock art. Then that was it for the tour, just a half day. Jon was great and he taught me a few things in the little time we had together. He has lived in Moab for 30 some years, and has been doing photo guide trips for the 7 years. He does other workshops as well, not just in Moab but around the world.
Our second day at Moab was worse than the first! It was completely overcast all day so no good photography that day. The third day, we got up again before sunrise and headed to Dead Horse Point since it is the easiest to get to in the morning. So finally, that morning light was spectacular! It only lasts for about 3 minutes though! At least that was our experience on that day. I'm betting in the Spring and Summer months the window of opportunity is little longer. There was a lot of haze in the atmosphere the whole weekend. I think it may have added an additional interesting element to this image though.
Hope this does well. I am really happy with the result. |
