My husband came home from getting the morning paper and said 'Come and I'll show you something', so I jumped in with him and he tracked this down (it had moved from where he first saw it). The hearse belongs to Sovereign Hill, a local theme park based on the gold rush days, and was out and about the streets for a little publicity/public relations. The driver (a woman) said that she 'probably should have put their feathers on' - I wish she had.
I took some shots of the carriage moving along the street, but the best of those (which I initially submitted) had required the removal of power lines (allowed) its shadow (?) some leaves and a small TV antenna (I'm not sure if that would be going too far).
The carriage pulled up and spent some time outside a taxi depot/service station, but the surroundings were not very sympathetic. At this angle I've managed to miss the bowsers and signs. At first I thought this shot too cluttered but I think it's probably more appealing than my first choice, besides, my husband prefers this one and without his input I wouldn't have got it at all.
