Part of the old and new Jamestown bridge, This was taken at 545 am on the way out past Newport for the family fishing tournament. I think it fits the challenge well, but is it impressive enough? we shall see!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

anyway, almost 8 years later I look back and I am proud of the composition of this shot, the grainy craziness not so much. I can remember the cold morning, gliding out to sea, or at least to open water, passing between the bridges. lucky snap really. one second either way and a lesser capture.

Very atmospheric indeed. A tangible weather condition caught very sensitively with an excellent exposure.

Thanks for all your great comments. This shot was taken in a fishing boat at about 6 am going through the jamestown bridge in narragansett bay. The pillar on the left is the new bridge, the one on the right is the old bridge. I have several outakes which I may post in my portfolio and some different shots on the water for the october free study.

I was really lucky to be there at this time and the mist was really amazing. We were riding in the boat with radar and you could see the daybreak straight up, but only about 35 yards out in front of the boat. crazy really.

I used no-flash auto iso so that I would a clear shot- but it was a bit too grainy. All I did was hit "auto levels" and I really liked what it did. And then I resized. Thats it.

Thanks again.

Wonderful composition and subtle shades of light filtering through the fog! This is one of my favorites of the bunch. Congratulations on a fantastic shot.

I'm not sure how much the camera did with this shot but i suspect very little. Anatural image by a natural imaginer !

I like this shot, and appreciate the difficulty in capturing the fog correctly, good effort 7

Brilliant!!! I love this one. It's not the framing forcing only 'part' of the subject to be visible this time, like it is for most pictures in the challenge. 9

oh I love the aura of this picture! I just wish it wasn't so foggy. But I must admit, it does lend to the pics eerie sensation! Good job!

Beautiful shot. To think that you were actually there at this timing to shoot this scene does make this rare encounter with the mist so concrete that the viewer is taken there as well to feel the charm of the time.

Interesting and ethereal. I think the overall mood detracts from the purpose of the challenge though. Fantastic shot anyway.

We will have to see if people think this fits the challenge or not. I think it is debateable. I like the image but there are others which I think meet the challenge better.
