FIRST IMPRESSION: Excellent entry, and proof that something simple works. As a bit of a "road-geek" I love the old style US highway sign. This type of sign has not been in production in the US in probably more than 30 years.
CHALLENGE: This shot meets the challenge perfectly. Simple and to the point, yet not boring.
COMPOSITION: Flawless composition, an excellent example of the rule of thirds. The background does not detract at all.
TECHNICAL: Good technical aspect. I have to wonder why you used your macro setting, though, since macro is optimized to focus on subjects extremely close to the lens (within 1m). You may have better luck with a full zoom without using the macro feature, though admittedly I would never have known you had used it if you didn't say so.
CONCLUSION: This is one of the best entries this week. Nicely done!
Thanks for sharing and good luck in future challenges! |

The concept is good, but the overexposed snow in the bottom left corner is distracting. |

Are you sure that you did not hang that there? ;) I think that if you cropped the image so that the open space in the lower left corner was not there, the picture would be more uniform and stronger to the viewers eyes. jgillard6 |

I like this photograph. Thought it would benifit form a tighter crop though, eliminating the white patch in the lower left. |

State of Washington US Rt. 295, in Canada by how far? Course we'll have to take your word for it. NO, I'm not calling you a liar. I'll believe you until you say differently. What I do like about the photo is that the tree the sign is attached to is brown. Not just the trunk is brown, but the limbs also. While the other trees look black against the white snow. Good job. It's an 8. |

Nice composition. It looks like there is a tiny bit of colour left in the photo - I wonder if it would look good completely black and white (although I don't mind the touch of colour). Focus is crisp as well. |

There we go again trying to ruin my favorite vacation land. Very interesting place to find a road sign, though it makes for a cool shot. The tree makes a perfect pole, much more interesting than a piece of steel. Your framing of the sign was great, really makes the sign stand out. Lighting and focus was also exceptional. The colors are OK I understand it is winter not much color to be found anywhere. 7. |
