I was trying to show the transition in two ways the first and most obvious the effect of the fire on the land the transition from solid to smoke but also the transition from clear blue sky to dirty brown smudgy air.I took the shot at sunset to get light on the smoke and also to make it a more abstract landscape with solid blocks of colour and not much detail.

Guess I get it, but the picture leaves me wanting something more.

beautiful shot.

Too much sky, not enough of the fire - coming from Australia I think I am conditioned to seeing the spectacular photos of the dreadful fires we have here!

Nice shot. But looks disproportional. A bit too much sky.

really nice skyline just doesn't seem very transitional. Nice though

good idea. It took me a minute to see what you were shooting though, because I kept looking at the sky. Maybe if you had more water and less at the top.

love this shot. wish the colors had been just a tad crisper, and not quite so washed out. still a great shot though!

too much sky
04/24/2002 10:26:00 PM
To much blue sky.

you could have framed this a litle lower since the sky is so empty, and it feels tilted to the left. a little more contrast might punch it up, as well!

pretty

If you were closer up and I could see things actually burning I could call it a transition. Nice colors in this photo.

Seems more of a horizon show than a picture of fire, as your title suggests. Maybe zooming in or cropping out the mountain and fire and smoke would have gotten your point across.

good landsape transition subject far away

david the gnome is spinning in his grave...what is the transition...overall nice crisp picture considering the distance
04/22/2002 08:57:00 PM
I wish i could see more of the fire... good shot!

If your subject is the fire and smoke there is too much sky. Zooming in would have made this better

By moving the horizon line farther up the photo, I think you would better emphasize the land & fire rather than the sky. It also seems a bit out of focus.
04/22/2002 01:51:00 PM
the colors could be more vibrant.
04/22/2002 12:25:00 PM
I don't see the transition here.
04/22/2002 10:30:00 AM
Not bad, but too much sky
04/22/2002 08:19:00 AM
whats the transition? good photo though
04/22/2002 07:24:00 AM
A very powerful photograph.
04/22/2002 07:10:00 AM
hard to really tell the transition, even though the title says it is fire. Too far away and not very much happening here. Looks like a promising location in better light
04/25/2002 01:27:00 PM
Nice scenic shot, but the fire is too far away for the transition to be clear
