This is the image I wanted when I added this challenge to the suggestion box a few weeks ago.
I had been playing around with focus stacking ,and stacked this watch, which gave a nice image. I further refund that image by angling the watch a bit difference, and getting even closer with 3 extension tubes on my 100mm macro.
The one thing I didn't get quite right was lighting. Working with newborn twins in the house means that I have little time to play with this hobby, so my 15 minutes of shooting was pretty much it. I had to go with a simple on camera flash bounced off the ceiling. It worked, but not awesome, as each shot needed some pretty big help to get to be as bright as needed.
End result is ok. I would give it a 7, but with a bit more effort, I could make this a 9 shot.

One this to add about the processing here: Topaz DeNoise is heads and tails better than Nik Dfine, with the exception of local adjustments. The cleanliness, colors, and detail from DeNoise is so good. |
