 So our local Mexican restaurant has all these awesome, metal sculptures. I thought one would make for a fun photo.

Well, each sculpture had distracting elements all around, and I couldn't quite figure out how to deal with that. Sorry. But they are wonderful.

Shallower depth of field would have been effective here to reduce background distractions.

Those things are pretty cool, but the lighting is not. Looks like you used on camera flash, which made everything flat.
