This was one of my ideas for the first symmetry challenge as well. I'm glad I waited, as I had more time to let this churn in the back of my mind, and thus think about what would make it great.

What I thought about is the background color. White is boring. Black is boring. Orange-yellow is fun/bright/interesting. :)

The perspective was pretty much set in stone as soon as I through about the idea, so after punch a hold in the construction paper, I lined up my camera (hand held) and shot. I used a flash, pointed exactly backwards, to help evenly light the scene (I didn't want shows throwing off the symmetry).

I was a bit worried about the uneven highlights on the top vs bottom metal, and also the slight variations in the position of the metal. But after a few days of voting, looks like voters are letting that slide :)
