I wish you hadn't gone a bit over with the sharpening, because I think this is one of the best images in the challenge. Without the sharpening I would bet this one as my second place (sorry, couldn't say the winner because I like winner better) :) |

this guy has so much personality in the lines of his face but you've over sharpened the photo so much that it's distracting. |

This is the ideal character study. However you shatpened image too much. yet the comp has strength. Bumping up. |

Great shot but it looks well over sharpened and that spoils the impact for me. 7 |

Finally, a picture that really captures the challenge theme. Really great sharpness and detail. In addition to the gruffy appearance of your subject, you suggest his occupation (construction?) by inclusion of what looks like a hard hat. What is most striking about this portrait is his eyes and gaze. Only criticism I have is maybe to have the background wall less defined with a more narrow DOF. Well done. |

Good character photo. It would have been more powerful if the DOF was a little shallower to put the bricks out of focus as I think they are a little distracting. 6 |

Very well shot (lighting and composition), but too much sharpening in postprocessing - 7 |

extra sharpen contributes in a unusuall way...... harsh and edgy..... a whisker burn from this fellow could be fatal....... |

All the roughness here is great, his face, his facial expression, even the background texture is rough. Fabulous. |

He looks like an excellent model, especially with those bushy eyebrows and stubles :)) Unfortunately you have oversharpened this image though. |

It's a bit much on the sharpness and contrast, but I know it's all emphasized for a reason...I just love this shot. Would've liked to see more of the hardhat (?) and brick, because the colors are wonderful. Overall, I so dig this, and give it a nine. |

It feels way over-sharped. A softier touch would make it a real excellent image!

This seems a little oversharpened, but It does add to the sense of roughness. The brick wall background also helps convey the message. I like the thought put into this one. Good shot. |
