While determination is certainly a strong defining feauture, it is quite an abstract one to bring out in a picture. In character studies they use the square jaw bone and lips curled down, but this is nonsense because we all know very determined people with pointy chins and great curling smiles. As a matter of fact, they come in all flavors.

The next question is can we attribute determination to a cutie like this who is not yet grown. Well, all this is sophistry. I see a defining feauture that is visible and beyond dispute and that is this child beauty. Yes, she also has rosy cheeks and curly lips. On the latter you get my 6.

With the sun highlighting the area behind her -- your eyes focus there first. It's hard to stay focused on the girl.

Lovely, just missing a little more light on her face.

Here's a case where a graduated neutral density filter could have helped out a lot. Or else a strong flash to light up the foreground...

A little fill-in flash would have done wonders here. Lovely photo anyway.

your highlights in the sky are blown out and the foreground is a bit dark, but nicely composed

The unbalanced lighting detracts from an otherwise good photo. The saturated sky doesn't go with the dusk lighting on the girl.

The subject is too dark, maybe some slight fill flash? I can't connect the picture to the title either, but I'm not marking the photo down for that.

Nice, but could have used a little more fill flash.

I think bottom half of image is too dark. As it is now, because the top half of the photo is lighter it draws the eyes away from your subject.

metering on the subject instead of the background would have balanced this shot out more exposure-wise.

Colors are nice but they distract from main object.
