This image is underexposed. Also it is not truly a contre-jour shot in my opinion as the light is coming in at about a 45 degree angle from the back right.

Interesting idea and composition but poor choice of subjects :-(
- The plastic chess pieces become semi-transparent when backlit
- The scratches on the board are augmented by the harsh light source from the back
