 Great sky, but very grey out of the camera. Nothing a little levels couldn't help. Resize > USM > save.

We're inundated with grackles preparing to migrate here. The sound they make as they flock by the thousands is deafening. Unfortunately, they generally prefer trees at sunset where they blend in like living leaves. Sound and motion are not the venue of still photography...

Lost with only a day left to generate a good idea, I am settling for this grab shot taken on the way to the grocery. (And I'll bet I'm only one of many, many telephone poles. Too bad. My only possible this week.)

You know, it's unbelievable how anal the voters are sometimes, especially about noise. This image just leapt out of the thumbnails at me, and I wasn't disappointed when I opened it up. The composition is complex and memorable. The disappearing birds-in-flight, so precisely limited to the left edge, are fantastic in how they foreshadow/echo at the same time the birds at rest.

And this lovely thing couldn't even score a 5? Even if you ACCEPT that the noise is a flaw, surely the value of the rest of it is manifest and it deserves a 6'ish score? Sigh...

This is a little too fuzzy IMHO.

WOW, there is a ton of noise or overprocessing in this photo.
