I took about sixty exposures when Howard Dean came to campus. With neither a low-light lens (this is the Rebel GII's 35-80mm kit lens), nor decent access (the room was packed, and I was near the back of it for most of the time) nor a flash that would reach that far, I was lucky to get one decent shot of the man.

It was color-balanced with auto-levels in The Gimp, then the reds were desaturated by -25 to make the flesh tones more natural. This is a crop of the original.

He may not be communicating, but he *did* revolutionize politics for young people in the United States over the last year or so. So, he's not communicating at the moment---he *represents* communication. And that's as far as I'm going to stretch it.

I don't think it's a great cadid because it's cropped in so close that it does not show any interaction or context. The view does not show any expression. His ear is front and center.

Dificult to see the theme from the photo alone

Okay, so what does Howard Dean do? I've never heard of him.

I wonder where this meets with the challenge...as no communication is occuring or implied.
