Crane backhoe for digging large and deep ditches.
Tripoded 18mm-70mm at 18mm. Handheld the SB600, set to manual 1/64th and walked aroung the machinery, flashing in different areas. 6 total shots taken.
This one was dangerous! I fell back first into a 6 foot hole on to my back...in the dark. Hurt for a second or two, but gotta get that SHOT!!

I love the composition and bold colors of this shot...making a creative, appealing shot of a subject matter that typically isn't thought of as such...the only minor drawbacks i see are uneven noise/discolorization blotches in the sky (especially in the blue parts)....and there appears to be odd uneven blurriness in the armsection coming down attached to the shovel...not sure if it is uneven blur tool use or splotchy cloning but there is intermittent blur and sharpness intervals...otherwise a stunning powerful shot!

Excellent compostion. Very strong entry but the only weekness is the overpoering yellow sky. 7

Really like the bits of star light -- the heavy equipment works well -- the colors blend to make an interesting study. One of my favorites this challenge

As we're going about our daily lives, we see these things all the time. Personally, I've never thought to photograph one but obviously that is my own lack of vision because you have made a stunning image with this very mundane subject. The composition is excellent and what makes this photograph.

litle over use on something on this picture... dunno what it is though... probably neat image or something like that :)

Amazing colors. The slightly patchy feeling reminds me of JPEG artifacts though for some reason, but maybe it's really what it looked like. Nice composition, I like the lines made by the backhoe arm, it keeps my eye moving so it doesn't lose interest.

Different take on the topic. Love the colors and the composition. Also those points of light in the sky.

Very unique take on this challenge. The yellow, blue and purple make for a vibrant and dynamic. The framing of the backhoe is really dramatic. It has the feel of a psychedelic album cover.

I gave a 10 to 3 photographs in this challenge, yours being one of them. If I could give ya an 11, I would.

The crop is interesting, and the colors are surreal. Focus is sharp. Personally, I can not find anything wrong with this photo. Excellent.

i think this could have been really great, but it seems way too over saturated.

Really cool lighting in this photo. The clear stars behind the brightly lit crane make this shot look almost surreal. Very nice job!
