 Happened to go out to my yard one night this week and saw some amazing aurora formations in spite of a cloudy sky (usually you don't see any northern lights during cloudy nights). Rushed in for my camera and tripod, but unfortunately the major action was done when I got things up and running (countsorn it!). Shot a few, no great ones but this submission had interesting form and colors (a bit of red going on around the green).

Did a bit of post processing:
*Crop (took out the houses around and a fence in the foreground
*Neat image (10 sec exp. gets very grainy)
*Sharpen
*Saturation
*Levels (Took most of the orange glow on the clouds off)
*Burned some lights coming from nearby houses

Gave the shot a bit of a fantacy-like look, not sure how people will like it. (I actually could make out some faces or skulls even in the clouds, call me mad...)

Used a tripod (self timer 2 sec) and the manual setting, widest lens setting, full aperture and manual focusing for infinity.

Not even hoping for a ribbon on this one, but it's way too long since I sent one in so here it is.

I knew there would be one of these. This is beautiful. Maybe just crop it a little more to remove some of the trees on the left of the photo.
