I had a work trip to philadelphia. On most work trips, I bring my camera, but barely use it as I go from hotel to on-site to eat to work from hotel to sleep.
But on this trip, we got done on site early, about 3 hours before dinner time. So I headed out with my camera and just the 50mm lens (that is all I brought). My intention was some street photography, with some buildings thrown in.
It was very successful. A fun time shooting, especially since I will never see any of these people again, so I felt more comfortable taking photos of random people on the streets.
This photo was among my favorites. I walked down a random sidewalk, and came upon a car on the other side of the road, with it's lights on, shining through the steam from the vent. The car wasn't moving. And there were people walking past. So I setup my camera with a shallow depth of field (needed lots of light, it was late), pre-focuses to a spot, and photoed people as they crossed. Most of the shots were garbage due to missing the focus or fast walkers.
But this one, turned out just as I hoped. Perfect timing with composition, body position, steam, and light. Well, light was still an issue. It was dark, and I'm shooting into car lights. But I got it pretty good, and then used the power of post processing to lighten up the woman, and bring to you this shot.
To me, this is an absolutely classic street shot. |

It has an uneasiness to it, also a sense of mystery like something strange is about to happen. |

Attractive photograph of a scene few would appreciate. Retaining the color was a must. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. |
