I know you were going for an old fashioned look with the oil lamp, but I honestly think it distracts from the photo. The little girl sleeping with an open book would be a much cleaner shot, the light of the lamp causes the globe and a small part of her arm to be over exposed.

Cute, but not something that captures my attention for more than a few seconds...I think zooming in and eliminating a lot of the peripheral elements of this photo would have helped the cause...

Nice photo. I'm wondering if the ambient room light was down or off, if this would have been a better effect to go with the oil lamp?

Compozition and colors are real nice... but looks like she have light from window on her back.
