 Trying the macro thing but to me this is not macro,
This was tried on my 35-135/macro lens. and used the macro part of it, I guess it might work for bugs or something, but its not my kind of macro yet.

This one probably got dinged pretty bad as a DNMC kind of image because you were shooting downward .
If you can't get the camera low enough to get the sky, you can use a mirror to get the "shot from the viewpoint of an ant on the ground" look with the sky behind the subject.
The two plant stems going across the frame at the flower also made it sort of busy looking.
The 28mm macro might allow you to get in a lot closer for true "macro" shooting.
Meanwhile, keep shooting. It's interesting to watch your posts as you experiment with learning the different facets of photography.
What you lack in technical skill, you more than make up for with your enthusiasm. : )

POV could have been better and shot in portrait instead of landscape.
