It is actually, burned, bound and broken. On a very cold day in February the Women's Club building had a big fire. The next day would have been a day for good images. After the fire fighters were done there was a thick icicled layer of ice over the smoldering remains.

I would have loved to hop the fence and poked around inside -- but it is in the middle of a residential area with lots protective neighbors. I didn't want my wife to have to pick me up at from the police station. This limited my options to shooting through a chain link fence. I know what you're thinking -- a real photographer would have risked whatever was necessary to get the best shot possible. You're probably right.

Elegant, subtle and minimal. The contrast in textures between the rope and all the hard surfaces really works here.

Not only abandoned but forbidden, as per the rope and signs. And so the somber tint handily furthers the point. What I really like about this image is the composition of squares and (other) rectangles comprising the entry. It looks like a quilt that's anything but gay. But it brings a bit of order to the scene.

I would have been tempted to title this No Exit :)
Great find and nicely processed.

The selection of toning certainly compliments this image. The cord (rope?) tying the doors and the broken window certainly tell the story and is nicely echoed in the title. Well seen. Expertly presented. Good luck.

I love that broken window. It looks like a bird. Or a head. Fit for the noir mystery that is this image.
