I love this photo. The bleakness of the black and white works well, and the leading line takes my eye off into some unseen future/consequence. However, to me this photo says "alcohol" or "despair" or "isolation" etc, but not "Poverty".

compositionally excellent. as for the challenge, i think it would have done better with a visible human element. still, one of my top picks. good luck!

I believe alcoholism is one of those vices that *is* under our control. IMO. Nice texture and light. A little weak on the composition, though. 5
