Color is very good here and the detail in the feathers makes this photo. It's biggest draw back though is the head and neck are slightly soft. Also I am questioning why the black background. I realize that it brings out the bird but it also makes it seem so unnatural.

Delicate almost pastel colors in that deep zen pose. Clarity and focus just right. Bumping up. |

| Good shot. I really like the pose. With a bit more post-processing, this could have been made into an excellent shot. This is what I would have liked to have seen done. First off all a slight crop on the left to "center" the body. Then I would have cloned the background to make it completely black. I would subsequently play with the levels/contrast and the hue/saturation to lighten up and bring out the feathers of the flamingo. Optionally, I would also dodge the eye slightly. After adding a bit of an Unsharp Mask, this would have been a top shot I believe. Please contact me if you would like me to show you an example of what I am talking about. |
