Composition - I feel very fortunate to be able to do this shot as I really enjoyed it the first time around. Composition - This faceless, nameless inanimate subject comes to life in this very poignant picture. I think the lighting is great the framing is great, the subject is great. The position of the "hands" sells this shot even though the head and body posture are very lifelike. The very tiny square it holds is precious and you've portrayed this very very well. I like that the focus of this challenge is a square, and the focus of the figure is the square as well. In composition alone, this was easily my favorite picture of the challenge.
Photography - I can't believe you took this picture at ISO 400 and its this clear. My cam would've left this quite noisy. If you could have shot this at F8 I think you would've added at least a half point, if not a whole one, to your score as the DOF would've been much greater and more of the pic would've been in focus.
Processing - I might've tried to sharpen this one or two times to see what would happen, but I don't think it would've been enough to make the pic as clear as it needs to be.
Overall - I loved this shot when I first saw it and still do. I wish it was clearer, but hey, they can't all be perfect all the time. You really matched the title to the pic and I get the feeling that this tiny white square is precious to the faceless figure. It is a very very well composed picture and I wish you would've had more time to work on it because I think it could truly be an outstanding picture. Thanks for sharing it with us on DPC and good luck in future challenges - Bob |

;) It's okay. I recognize a point and click when I see one, mostly because that's all I got. I really do like this photo though. If it's one of your favourites you should try reshooting it and trying to get a better focus. (and then show me the results, nudge nudge) |

Thanks everyone, even though i did this whole image in about 5 minutes and submitted it about 15 seconds before the contest ended, it's still the best i've scored so far, so yay!. And yes Gracechild7, i had no control over the dof unfortunatly, the camera does all that by itself, the best i could do is set it in macro mode and hoped it would get in focus, which for most of my model, it didn't :(. |

hehehe - feta or mozarella cheese? Creative concept. Would prefer the figure to be in focus as well. |

Good idea. The subject square is not well lighted and I cannot tell what it is |

I like the composition, but I almost missed the square, there. Maybe a slightly tighter composition? |

I think the lighting was used very nicely. But the only problem is i dont see any square in your picture. But Nice Work anyway |

Make this clearer, even if just the hands, and I think it gets a ribbon. - Inspzil |

Cute shot, however I'd like to see the whole doll in focus, or with a really really shallow depth of field (to highlight the square), not in between (the doll slightly out of focus). Hope I didn't confuse you. Jacko. . |

The foreground is a bit out of focus - which is a shame because you really didn't have to worry about a distracting background in this one. Also, I think the lighting should have focused more on the square (Unless you are going for a "hide it from everyone" feel - in which case disregard my statement). I love the composition, the idea and the Lord of the Rings reference.... (7) |

I don't understand the title at all. Nice lighting, nice composition. |

I like this shot. It has a very human feel to it, which I like more than anything. I don't know what your exposure data is, but I think a little more DOF would have helped. I see the hands and the cube as your focus point, but the right arm is a very strong (if not the strongest) element in the photo, and it's a little soft. I love the way the right arm brings your eye to the hands and the cube. Title is also great. With better DOF I'd give it a 9 or 10, as is I give it an 8. Good luck with the challenge! |

Nice lighting, although focus seems a bit soft. Perhaps if you used more of the 150kb file size allowed it would sharpen it up. |

I love this photo. I think the focus could have been better, but I'm thinking that this was prolly shot with a lower quality camera. Yay! |

LOL, great title! Too bad the little wooden guy doesn't have a little more expressive face. ;-) Only complaint is the focus of shoulders and head. 8 =) |
