 This is my precious Bailey. My skittish girl, soft and gorgeous, but loathe to stand close enough to be caught despite 7 years of care and freedom and peaceful living with my husband and I. If I am playful enough, she'll let me close enough to capture something wonderful. Each photo of this cat seems full of fear and vulnerability. (My other cats, lovers and much more people oriented, rarely give me images where I see emotion. So bless you dear Bailey, I try my best to give you a life where you can be free of fear.)

This shot just sort of happened. I love the artistry of Jan, so really wanted to enter something. Then I saw the 'expert editing' part of the challenge and was less sure of myself. But I happened to glance up while watching TV and noticed the sunlight hitting dear Bailey as she slept on the back of a living room chair. I have been working on my black and whites, and all I really understand about black and white is that light is key so I knew I had to see what this light did. So I picked up my camera and decided to play around.

Sometimes that pays off in spades. This may end up as art on my wall.

Wonderful title, the more so for both not capitalizing the "c" and making it a sentence. And fitting, for this is a tender grace note, a simple instant that conveys a world of charm and emotion. The grain and focus allows the image to softly fade away from the focused eye. I particularly love the whiskers. Loosely composed as a natural triptych. A benediction.
