So I was trying to come up with an interesting idea. I wanted to do this one, because I wanted to play with lighting. I haven't been shooting much at all since I bought my lights, and I thought it was a good opportunity.

But I couldn't think of anyone.

So I went to play practice, and then realized, "wait! The director works at the planetarium!" The director of the play, that is. Of course it was last minute (since when do I do challenges any other way??) But luckily the planetarium was closed the next day, so we could play.

I do wish I could have done the lighting better. I'm still not sure what I'm doing wrong, and what the masters do so right...! This was was actually pretty underexposed for the planetarium display, so Jupiter is rather noisy. It was 1/10 second with the flash at the beginning. The later images were actually shot between 8 seconds and 30 seconds.

So huge thanks to Kelly for letting me play.

Here's my favorite of the shoot.

I had that one entered, but then I saw it on my husband's laptop and it looked too dark. I'm working on a new screen on the desktop, and I don't think I have it adjusted quite right. I was too lazy to go back and brighten it, plus I thought the one that I switched to was probably more environmental. Well -- they're both environmental, because they're projections on the dome, but the entry appears more environmental. But I do wish I had taken the time to adjust my favorite and enter it anyway.

Oh well, Next time. :)

Thanks for the comments!

I gave this only a 5 although I love the disconnection of elements, so much a story of our times. Each time I look at it though I am bothered by the arm, placed so prominently in the foreground.

I like how she gazes wistfully upon the heaven of her own projection. wait a minute, they both have a mole. I have to hang this in my fantasy gallery
