Very creepy! Well done on that, Kevin.
I think that the overall darkness of the image is what caused the voters to vote lower and even some to not vote on it at all.
I've learned that DPC voters sometimes just look at the thumbnails of the images and decide which are interesting to them to click on. Unfortunately, this thumbnail image is very dark and drab and uninviting.
Also, not every voter has their monitor calibrated, so some may see even less detail. Perhaps a bit of "curves" to increase the contrast between lights and darks would have helped.
I usually finish my edit and then look at it on the website on my cellphone to make sure both look good.
Your composition is really good, I love what you've chosen to include in the scene to tell a story with your image.

If you don't like expert editing, then I think you did a great job finding something creepy enough to photograph for this challenge. But just painting some glowing eyes for example, would have made this picture already more "Expert" and perhaps would have given you higher scores - don't know how other voters weigh the editing rule in a challenge. |
