Challenge: October Free Study (Advanced Editing II)
Camera: Sony DSC-F717
Location: London, UK
Date: Oct 26, 2004
Aperture: f2.2
ISO: 160
Shutter: 1/30
Galleries: Cityscape, Travel
Date Uploaded: Oct 31, 2004

A fabulous blend of natural and artificial lighting gives this image is special quality. While it is a generic London scene, it is unique because of the balance of artificial lighting and the perfect angles of the natural light at dusk. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed taking it.

The only adjustments made were: Levels, Shadows-Highlights, and Saturations.

A subtle border was created using colours from the image and then reducing its transperancy.

I see the generic but not the unique. The thing that moves this down in my scoring is first the composition, and second a subject that doesn't hold my interest. Maybe I'm just not looking at it right.

I realy like the color in the sky. This is big ben isn't it?
There's not much to complain about this photo except that the tower is "leaning" to the right and maybe you could have cloned out the leafs so the sky would realy turn into negative space.

Good work, but I think your border is distracting. Maybe a simple black border or something else outside the image area. (6)

beautiful comp, but should have avoided that magenta sky and try to obtain a pure blue one.

Looks like you were trying some new perspectives and compositions - which is great with architecture. I think I might have just focused on the building and the lighting to keep a cleaner look. Just a suggestion.

Took practically the same shot a couple of months ago, but yours is much better lit. Don't like the frame though.
