My sister discovered this dung beetle shoving this small chunk of poo around the middle of the road. Such hard work, but my -- what a smell! Eeew.

Photo was cropped, brightness/contrast applied/unsharp mask, auto levels and border.

Others have already pointed out that you could have used more Depth of field. This might have been hard due to light, might not have had a tripod with you, and even if you did the bug would move and would be blurry. Try shooting at least with a 1/125 shutter, see if that gives you alittle more aperature to work with. You can also bump your ISO up to get more, but that will make it that much more grainy. You have to give and take. Personaly I would have liked to see his face. Other than that good attempt.

hurts my eyes, personally to look at it for too long...hard to tell what is in focus, maybe because of the lighting?

Good. Would have made a better effect if the backpack would have been focused.
