Baseball is one of my favorite sports and a scuffed baseball can be a pitchers friend. I just recently started taking MACRO shots, this is one of my favorites.

Because of you DOF, theres a ring in the photo that's actually in focus, the center is blurred, the edges are blurred, but theres a ring of focus areound the foreground and background (because you're shooting a sphere). This hurts the composition and weakens the focal point - do I look at the scuff thats blurred or the stitching that's mostly in focus? I would say, lenghthen your DOF to solve this problem. I like the composition otherwise and the b/w

Good DoF use here, but the composition is a bit off in my opinion. I would have brought the stiches towards the middle a bit so they werent so close to the edge of the frame. Also, there is too much negative space on the left. Try boosting contrast in post processing too, to increase the immediate impact of the shot.
