 I know that this is a macro shot. But with the sony dsc-f828 without a filter (which I cannot afford at this time) this is about as close as you can get to your subject and still get a clear picture.

I think an even closer crop on the eyes would be better and show more emotion.

This is not macro. Macro will present the object bigger in reproduction than in life.
