Thanks for the feedback i placed right where i figuried i would so im happy, and the vain going through the opal is accually just some potch |

I don't think there's enough creativity on this. I mean, does it take much skill to place a piece of opal down and photograph it? |

The beauty here is lost by the dull wirey background. Also, there seems to be vains of dullness in the opal itself. Not bad, but I wonder how it would look with a different background and a greater DOF. |

beautiful stone, but the background is distracting. a simple black or white backdrop would do the subject more justice. |

Try experimenting with less centered flat-on compositions to try and add some interesting elements to the photo. |

I was going to do a gem or rock picture for this challenge. And then I realized how boring they looked. |

The composition is a little boring with it being right in the center as it is. The substrate that it is on has a pretty strong texture and detracts for the opal. |
