Greetings fromt the Critique Club
by Inspzil
Composition - I really liked this shot during voting. The dogs look great. They have a great expression on their face and they're looking the right way and everything. Their positions in the frame are great and I do like the chair there. It NEEDS to be there. I had one small complaint earlier and I'm still sticking to it - I don't like the way they are sinking into the floor. Aside from that, I wouldn't change a thing.
Technical - Very well taken photo. Exposure is a little tricky here with the dark dogs and white background but I think you nailed it. They are wonderfully focused and framed. Awesome. Processing is very good too. The wrinkles are one of those necessary evils in the amateur photography game. Busy backgrounds will kill you every time though on DPC. Its good you didn't blow out anything. It's really very good.
Overall - Loved the shot then, still love it. I have a dog about this color and a rottweiler too. I'm feeling inspired to pose them similarly and see if I can do something like this. Great pic gotcha. I thought you deserved to place better, but I know I would be very pleased to finish even close to where you did. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing this gem with us on DPC. - Bob |

Very, very, very, very nice shot. I'm a cat person my self but I love this picture. The whole picture works very effectively: bow ties, the cair, the dogs, the white background. + congratulations on minimizing the shadow ... great lighting job. Good luck. I love it. Jacko 10 |

Should have done it in sepia tone. Go back and do one in it. They are posed like the old fashioned photos. What breed is the one on the chair. Looks bassett hound, blood hound, chocolate lab, all three which is it. They are beautiful and the is a beautifully done photo. Great lighting and background Like how it's almost shadow free. Great job there. This is a reall good composition. I love the bow ties. Couldn't you find any white shoes to slip on them? This is an 8 for sure. |

Terrific lighting, nice white background, good posing, good framing. Very solid shot all around!! The one very minor thing I don't like is how the dogs feet and the chair feet are sinking into whatever they're resting on. Aside from that its great!! - Inspzil |

Great pose - very expressive faces. I'm not too sure about the bowties, but the lighting and focus are great. |

I really like the idea you came up with. The photo looks very nice and planned out. The white background behind the dogs makes them stand out and gives the photo a clean look. Good job. |

Very cute. I could see someone hiring a photographer to take a pet photo like this. Not crazy about the chair, but I do like that the smaller dog is higher than the other. Good lighting on them. 7 |

--Laughter---: THIS was FUNNY. You chose the perfect dogs for such a shot. II love it. I would like to know (Im sure this is a pathetic amateur question but I need to learn somehow) how you get the background to be a sold white with no horizon whatsoever. I also find it strange that the shadows seem reddish. Awesome photograph. |

This makes me want to say "Wow!" The faces of these two dogs really grab me and hold my attention. You've captured their brown eyes just perfectly. And those white bow ties. . . Those tinge marks on their hind legs are great. And the black claws on the guy sitting on the chair show up beautifully. I belive your composition has truly shown the rule of 3rds. The portrait is sharp and is truly in focus. Even the scroll on the chair is in focus. Lovely job! |

Great work - composition and framing are near perfect, focus is very good and the dogs are lovely. Probably the biggest distraction I have are the shadows (especially around the chair). Everything else is wonderful though. |
