I cleaned it up, sharpened, resized then uploaded.

The Cliff Brake Lip Fern is found in the Ouachita Mountains. You will find them in dry areas along cliffs, bluffs, and rocky outcroppings.

The lip fern is a small family of ferns that the underside resembles lips when the fronds are mature. What you are seeing in my photo is the underside of an imature fertile frond. It will ripen in the spring through early summer. That's when you will see the lip formations. These formations consist of millions of tiny sacks that cannot be seen without a microscope and inside each sack are millions of tiny seed.

Ferns are a remarkable species of plants and studies are still being made of these plants.

beautiful nature still life, but not sure it's the best subject matter for a 30 second exposure.
