What a difficult challenge! Imagining how life could look like elsewhere is already a daunting task, but making it appealing and understandable to an hypothetical probe in just one image is incredibly hard. I confess I failed to find any decent idea. However, I didn't resist playing with the new lens Santa brought me (a few days early), and decided to enter with this silly/funny image anyway.
I had great fun experimenting with short focal lengths, and all I can say is that it is quite inspiring. I foresee loads of fun with this lens :) Here, I covered a large band of paper with wet clay and mud, and made it look like the ground of some hostile planet. Quite an easy trick, which is probably going to be so very handy to create various strange landscapes for future images, without the need for a spaceship!
Also, if a challenge is an excuse for some broken glass, it is an extra reason to enter! I found an old mirror in the basements of my house, and my trustworthy hammer made the rest ;)
Thank you so much for the very kind feedback; I cherish it a lot, as it brings me much motivation. You guys rock! Have fun with those last 2016 hours, and see you next year! |

Good illustration for an old/new/future story.
Too me it's way too far from the use of a photographic medium but we are in the extended editing mode and it's a crafty image with beautiful tonality.

Ah, Christophe. You conjure the most peculiar creatures. I like the (relative) simplicity of this one. |
