Hello from the critique club
An appealing image that contributes well to the challenge
This is a lovely night scene that is enhanced by good mono processing. Whilst the lights are understandably blown the exposure overall is good, there is good detail throughout. Unlike your commenters, I would actually like to see more foreground but it would need to be sharply in focus too. By cropping the tops of the tall trees it would move it all to the upper third and create a more interesting composition but as I said before this would only work with a larger DOF with light playing on the focussed shapes and shades on the water. |

You've captured a fine quiet mood in this image. Snow-dusted trees and grounds, with a couple enjoying the moment. I suspect there were no sounds being made when you were on site. The photo has a nice balance to it and a warm glow from the lights. The foreground, though, doesn't add much to the image. I would consider cropping off the bottom half of the water, just below what look like ice crystals. The bottom inch is not in focus in any event. Overall, I like your results. 6 |
