 Tufted Titmouse (the Chickadee was last month) shot through my family room window. Alas, I can get the birds to come, but I can't get them to pose, so while I would have loved for it to face into the frame rather than out of it I am happy that it sat still long enough for me to get any shot at all.

I'm more than slightly thrilled that this guy, and others like it, did so well in the FS this year. When I discovered that I was leading after 5 months I was stunned. That I managed to hold onto that lead is quite remarkable given some of the other work that appears here from some of the most beautiful parts of the world. That I don't get out and about much is evident in the fact that 7 of my 12 entries were taken in my backyard, with 6 of them shot within 15 feet of each other. So if nothing else this proves that you don't have to go somewhere to make a picture.

Congratulations Jake! You've done well within your 100 foot circle this year! I've taken my share of bird photos, so just getting them as good as this is all you can do some times. Congrats on winning the marathon!

7 from me... I wish the chickadee (?) were looking into the frame instead of out of it... to make it more comfortable for the viewer. Just a swing to the left would have made this a 9 or a 10. I love the colors... and that one snow heart in the background!
