Normally, I wouldn't pick a landscape type photo as "art" - at least not to me, since I'm kinda fond of people shots in general. But there are two things about this which make it more than a "landscape" shot to me: that arm/finger of a cloud reaching across from right to left, providing some sort of golden protection to the tableau below, and that wee bit of blue ice, somehow forlorn and lost, drifting amongst all that gold. For artistic balance, you have the blue of the sky, but it pales compared to the almost electric blue of the ice. The whole thing speaks to me of loneliness and loss, of the melting of the glaciers and our ignorance of it all. And yet with your title, you see it as something far more hopeful! Isn̢۪t it interesting how we can all see the same thing so differently? |

Apologies for my ignorance - to me it looked like a bright blue tarp and seemed too small to be ice. As soon as rollover happened, I checked in and noticed that the other commenters had more of a clue ;-) Oh well. |

I refuse to believe ice can be that blue! I guess, will need to travel to Alaska myself. :-)
Also see a flying crocodile here...:-)
Seriously, love the gold and blue colors here and also how sun lights the distant glacier! Beautiful. |

Although some might have approached this with a black and white treatment to take advantage of the lush variations in luminosity, sticking with color and highlighting the range from cyan through subtle orange works very well. The composition generates a sense of a remote, exotic, and perhaps lonesome setting that nevertheless possesses a special beauty. |

This is so beautiful. Patagonia? It is so beautifully composed and the blue ice at the right is genius.
I also think the processing is perfect. Landscapes have become so slick and high gloss, the restraint here is fine art. |

A stunning scene. The bright blue iceberg is so unexpected, in its colour. This has had me looking for a long time! |
