A Great Blue Heron (Ardea Herodias) in full breeding plumage catching a mid-morning meal at Anahuac NWR, Texas, USA.

I had been watching him for about 30 minutes when I struck for this fish and I almost missed it because I was messing with my phone. I also kept getting focus on the weeds, so I switched to manual focus and the shot.

Oh, and yes............that is really pee being squeezed out of the fish........the entire series shot at 11fps is funny to flip thru :-)

This lens is rare to find in the old Olympus 4/3's mount and I bought it a week ago when I came across one for sale at a really really good price (it is also the first one in the 4/3's mount I have ever seen come up for sale). I had no idea how good the lens was and internet searches would leave one to believe it was not worth it to buy, I didn't look up the lens until after I had bought it and it was being shipped. Finding sample photos from it was hard but DPC helped me out with some wonderful samples in other mounts but the same lens. When I saw that someone a few of my frog shots had been compared to used this lens I felt a little better about my purchase, the person I am talking about is Lydia

This was my first outing with the lens and I can say I am extremely happy with my purchase.

Hello from the critique club

An appealing image that makes a significant contribution to the challenge.

Well done Ronnie, a cracking image with a cracking lens, a great start with your new acquisition. Your chosen technique of manual focus has undoubtedly saved the day here, so often when there are foreground reeds as here the focus will suddenly flip just at that critical moment, you have avoided that problem, well done. As for the image itself well, it really has everything, down to good timing and patience on your part. You really have got your wildlife shots well nailed. As for the pee, I think I might too in that situation!
