 This is a basket in my study. Colorized it evokes a stirring image of lines and texture. The photo was cropped, then hue adjusted, then had its black point increased in Levels.

That's probably because you're viewing on an LCD. I have the same problem when I use my laptop.

The shot was simply lit with my desklamp. It's about a 60W bulb with a sheet of paper taped to the front to diffuse the light. What made the shot come alive though was post processing specifically using levels and hue. I was trying to get a color like lipstick.

I really really like this one. Love those reds and the depth created by the shadows. Lighting works really well and your composition with the black border enhances it all. Excellent work.
