 Male Mountain Bluebird. It was springtime in RMNP today. Once again, there were many mated pairs of Mountain Bluebirds in Moraine Park. They were feeding on insects crawling on the ground. After grabbing an insect, they would perch again... usually on a wax currant. The females were sitting tight near a cavity nest the pair has chosen for the season. Canon EOS 5D Mark IV, Canon EF400mm f/4 DO IS II USM +1.4xIII, 04/16/17 1:58pm, 1/1600s@f/5.6.

I love the bokeh at f/5.6. I've been debating whether to buy Canon's 300mm or 400mm. This image leads me to believe the 400mm may be the better choice. (I can't believe that the "participants" gave this a 5.8462. Too bad there isn't a way to compare their votes with their own photos; I bet it would be a joke.) I've always enjoyed your images and the fact that you put detail in your comments.
