 Protective momma owl. Easily my favorite nature photo of the GH owls from today. The momma owl is shielding the owlets from the raven attacks. And, she is showing her talons to make sure the ravens know she means business. The two owlets are in awe of the behavior of the arch enemies. Canon EOS 5D Mark IV, Canon EF400mm f/4 DO IS II USM +1.4xIII, 1/100s@f/6.3, ISO 125. (the ISO setting was mistake!) 05/01/17 4:18pm. — in Estes Park, Colorado.

Jealous! What a wonderful scene to capture. I can really see how the choice of a nesting spot takes advantage of the owl's coloring to camouflage it.
