 On a very foggy afternoon. The fisherman is standing on a submerged sandbar where the local creek skirts Nantucket Sound, but the waters don't mix (that happens at the mouth of the creek further off to the left).

He and I had talked briefly in the parking lot as I headed off with my camera, and agreed that we were mainly out there for the fresh air and quiet. He wasn't expecting to catch any fish and I wasn't expecting that I would take any pictures, but in the end he and the unusual flow of water where he stood provided me with something interesting.

Fact for the day from Robert [user]Bear_music[/user]. Saltwater fly fisherman carry an open box at their waist to store their free line, which would otherwise be swept away. This fisherman is feeding the line from the box with his left hand.

I would have liked this "old man and the sea" more if the sharpening would have been less pronounced and the image would have been a quiet despair

A lovely collection of texture, noise, and serenity if that makes sense. There's a very nice flow to this - not clean and crisp, but real and somehow more satisfying.
