Another fabulous stunner! The snow would almost have you assume this was done in a studio.
Congrats on the red, Richard.

THis is terrific, Richard. You always manage the blue of these birds so well, and the sense of frozen motion here is just spot-on. Even the distracting element is working for you here, is what the challenge asked for. Well done! |

I agree too, the post was not distracting for me. It is a context for the story. Really gorgeous work Richard! |

I agree with the post not being a distracting element -- it tells the story. That being said, what a truly wonderful capture! I'm so glad to have seen this shot. Truly magnificent!

Yes, exactly right. It was a unique lighting situation. Surrounded by snow with the filtered sunlight over the back of my left shoulder in early afternoon.

Bumping to an 8 (from a seven) LOVE your shutter speed... and the blown sky! |

What a wonderful capture, although I'm not sure I would really consider the post a distracting element. The head of the bird is on the centerline so I'mm put you down for breaking that rule. |

I don't see anything distracting... just context:) There must be something wrong with me. Great shot. |

I'm always amazed when I see the wings in flight. Nice shooting even with distracting elements. 8 |
