Greetings from the Critique Club :)
Hi Jenarom...
This is an excellent choice of subjects for the cliche challenge. Children are photographed as much as any subject I can think of. I personally wish I had children of my own to photograph. Being single, I think I'm missing out on wonderful photo opportunities. I get to photograph my niece and nephew occasionally, and recently did some digital portraits of them for my mom for her livingroom wall... Those are here if you want to take a look:

I like the composition of your portrait.. the diagonals of the swing chains and the right side orientation of the child create a good perspective for the viewer in this shot :)
It looks like you were dealing with some fairly direct sunlight in this image as well. I don't know if it would have been an improvement or not, but firing the flash in this shot would have removed the shadows from the child's face. Fill flash is used in daylight situations to accomplish this. My Sony 707 does a nice job of this with the flash set on low power mode and I use it quite frequently for this task...
Keep up the good work :)

Love the action depicted in this shot, more by the expression on her face and the implied motion. Cute girl. I would have liked to see her left arm, right side of the photo completely in the photo. Still a great shot! 8 |

your focus is on the ground and not on your subject. |

Adorable little girl!! I like the "action" shot, and you've managed to get her well focussed, too. Cute top - red looks great on her. |

Nice choice of timing and cropping. Gives it extra feeling of motion and pull. 7 |

I would like to have seen this zoomed out and seen her actually swing, still focusing on her face. I think it would have added much to that precious expression. Looks like she's not sure she's having fun or being scared and doesn't want to admit it. Beautiful focus and vibrant colors. I like that tiny black border. It's one of the best I've seen and does you well on this shot. Well done. |

Lovely candid shot. Such a beautiful little smile. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you've used just the natural lighting here? The colors of the sweater are really vibrant and alive and the two blue's of the swing seat and plastic wiring are great. I like the way the little earrings show up in her ears, you've captured a lot of detail, and that smile is worth a million words. You've done a good job using the rule of 3rds by not having her smack in the middle of the photo, too. |

I would have liked to see more space on the right of the photo instead of the left. |
