Greetings from the Critique Club
By the least qualified person in CC
Composition - The second photo today I've critiqued taken in a paper bag. I'm going to remember this idea. Funky gourd. I think what makes this picture successful is the bag more than the vegetable. The gourd is cool, but its the rich color of the background that gives this photo its appeal. I think its the lighting in the bag that makes it so cool. The lighting with probably a simple overhead light is great.
Technical stuff - The photograph is pristine. Awesome color, stunning clarity and perfect exposure. If you did some processing, it was good too.
Overall - I don't have much to say. I don't know how to improve the photo. Its very good. The still-life thing is way cliche. The photography is exceptional. I even like the fold in the back of the bag. Great photo, underrated IMO. - Bob |

I love the rusty colours throughout this, really really good! I think the crop is a little too close to the edge of the gourd thingy, but its still a great photo. Bumped up from a 9 to a 10. |

Wonderful color pallette. Could have ironed the background cloth - still an 8. |

Great colors and a fine composition. Is it possible that I saw this somewhere else? |

WOW, what a great photo! Your composition / cropping is perfect, the texture und the colours are highly impressive. IMHO only the vertical wrinkles in your background are disturbing a little bit. But this is nerly nothing and marginal. One of my favourites this week, good luck! (10) |

Is that a real pear? Good shot, but the background's folds are distracting. The colour and crinkles work well, though. Is that a grocery bag for the background? |

Good still life shot. I like the background except for the creases. |

The creases in the background should have been ironed out before the shot. This is a nice still life, but I personally feel the background should have been a little lighter or totally black. To me either of them would have shown off the gourd better. Your focus is real good and the light on the gourd is good. Nice piece of art work. |

I really like the colors and the texture in this. The crease in the background is a little crooked which is slightly distracting. |

Lovely textures and great use of a brown paper bag for background - the creases are slightly jarring though. Great shot. |

I love the colors and the lighting in this shot. What I don't like are fold marks on the paper background. I wish they were not present. Otherwise, it's a beautiful shot. |

I like the way you've used the rule of 3rds here. It make your photo stand out most vividly! It's an excellent photograph with a professional look to it. The color is outstanding and really holds a person's attention. Your background color suits the pear to a T. I like the way the lighting creates the shadow on the right side of the fruit. Wonder if there would have been any way to get rid of that crease in the cloth on the right side? It's just a bit distracting. |
